Der Drenthepad
Der Drenthepad ist der älteste ausgeschilderte Fernwanderweg der Niederlanden. Offiziell beginnt er am Bahnhof von Beilen. Die rund 360 Kilometer  lange Strecke furt drei Nationalparks uns zwei UNESCO-gebiete. De wanderweg is in Geld-Rot ausgeschildert.

Wander-Etappe 20.
Sie gehen über die Laaghalen-Esche. Felder und Wiesen, so weit das Auge reicht, führen zum Hijkerveld – einer riesigen Heidelandschaft mit Rohrstroh, die sich bis zum Horizont erstreckt – ist von großem prähistorischen Wert. Die Grabhügel und der Wabenkomplex aus der Eisenzeit weisen auf eine frühe Besiedlung der Gegend hin. Moore und alte Torfbrunnen zeigen, wie es früher aussah. Entlang der Westseite wandern Sie an den alten Flussfeldern der Kartoffelmehlfabrik vorbei, die in ein Feuchtgebiet-Vogelschutzgebiet umgewandelt wurden.

The Drenthepad
The Drenthepad, the oldest signposted long-distance footpath in the Netherlands, officially begins its scenic journey. The trail spans more than 360 kilometres, passing through three National Parks and two UNESCO areas. The path is waymarked with yellow/red signs.

Stage 20.
You walk over the es of Laaghalen. Fields and meadows as far as the eye can see lead to the Hijkerveld – a wide heathland with reed grass to the horizon – has a great prehistoric value. The burial mounds and the honeycomb field complex from the Iron Age indicate early habitation of the area. Fens and old peat pits reveal what it used to look like. Along the west side you walk along the old floodplains of the potato flour factory that have been transformed into a water-rich bird reserve.
