Der Drenthepad
Der Drenthepad ist der älteste ausgeschilderte Fernwanderweg der Niederlanden. Offiziell beginnt er am Bahnhof von Beilen. Die rund 360 Kilometer  lange Strecke furt drei Nationalparks uns zwei UNESCO-gebiete. De wanderweg is in Geld-Rot ausgeschildert.

Wander-Etappe 5.
Sie spazieren durch die torfkoloniale Vergangenheit der Stellingwerfs, wo die Torfmalerei im 16. Jahrhundert eine wichtige Tätigkeit war. Wasserstraßen und Kanäle gaben dem Land ein schachbrettartiges Muster für die Entwässerung und den Abtransport von Torf nach Westen. Das Fochteloërveen ist eines der letzten Hochmoorgebiete und vermittelt einen Eindruck davon, wie es im 18. Jahrhundert aussah. Schließlich erreichen Sie Veenhuizen, die unfreie Kolonie der Maatschappij van Weldadigheid, wo „Arme“ umerzogen wurden.

Stage 5.
You walk through the peat colony past of the Stellingwerven, where peat extraction was an important activity in the 16th century. Canals and canals gave the land a chessboard pattern for the drainage and transport of peat to the west. The Fochteloërveen is one of the last raised bog areas and gives you an idea of ​​what it looked like in the 18th century. Eventually you reach Veenhuizen, the unfree colony of the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid, where ‘paupers’ were re-educated.
